What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser epilation is the process of removing unwanted body hair for aesthetic purposes in women and men with a laser device. The laser light used in laser epilation is absorbed by the mela pigment of the hair and turns into heat that directly destroys the hair follicle without damaging the skin, and permanently removes unwanted hair.
Laser Epilation Types
Alexandrite: It has a laser energy of 755 nm wavelength, destroys the hair on the surface during application and provides a clean image after the process, providing a fast and comfortable application.
Diode Laser: It has a laser beam of 800/810 nm wavelength and is applied to the skin with ultrasound gel.
ND Yag: It has a laser beam of 1064 nm wavelength and is used for skin rejuvenation and capillary treatment in addition to unwanted hair.
Alexandrite and ND Yag, which are F.D.A. approved, the most used and awarded the best epilation device in America, are preferred for laser epilation procedures in our clinic. Among the lasers used for epilation purposes today, the alexandrite laser with a wavelength of 755nm is considered the gold standard. Cynosure Elit Plus is the product of a leading brand in the sector and thanks to its advanced technology, it offers a comfortable application for epilation of all skin and hair types with the advantage of combining alexandrite 755nm and ND Yag 1064nm wavelengths.
Laser Epilation Process Steps
Before the procedure, the hairs to be treated must be shortened to 1-2 mm.
Make-up, lotion, cream, etc. wastes on the skin are cleaned. The laser device is operated simultaneously with the cooler in the treatment area and moved over the skin.
The energy absorbed by the hair root turns into heat, reducing the growth ability of the mela pigment in the root and causing it to disappear completely.
Processing time varies depending on the area to be laser epilated and the density of the hair.
After the procedure, the area is cleaned and necessary moisturizing is done.
Laser epilation session intervals are initially 4-6 weeks, while subsequent sessions are determined as 6-8 weeks.
A control session is applied two weeks after the session.
To Which Parts of Our Body is Laser Epilation Applied?
There is a hair follicle in every pore of our body. However, there are two types of hair on our body. They are divided into terminal and hormonal hairs. Terminal hairs are the hairs found in the lower legs, private area and armpit. Hormonal hairs are in areas such as upper legs, arms, face, belly, chest and waist. Terminal hairs are generally the areas where 90% results are achieved. Hormonal hair, on the other hand, requires more sessions than terminal hair, and success is achieved as a result of differences in hair type, hair type, skin type and age. These are just a few of the common body areas where laser hair removal can be applied. In general, laser epilation can be preferred as a permanent removal technique for unwanted hair in any part of the body. However, since each individual's laser epilation needs are different, it is important to determine the most appropriate treatment areas and consult experts.
Laser Epilation Permanence Time
Laser epilation process is a treatment method, our aim is to ensure that the hairs decrease and become thinner with each session. Unless we have any hormonal problems in our body or use psychiatric drugs that will affect our hormones, there will be no hair growth in all areas where we apply laser epilation.
What Should Be Considered After Laser Epilation?
Since the skin will become sensitive after laser epilation, it is recommended not to take a hot shower for 2-3 hours. Itching of the skin surface and harsh applications such as washcloths should be avoided for the duration of 1 patient. On the day of the procedure, one should not go out in the sun and should not enter environments such as solarium, sauna, Turkish bath before a week, and it is not appropriate to do sports on the same day. After laser epilation, apply it every day with a water-based moisturizing lotion that will not nourish the hair follicle. We must moisturize our skin and it is dangerous to go out without sunscreen.
Is Laser Epilation Harmful?
Laser epilation, which allows permanent removal of unwanted hair regardless of men and women, is painless compared to the classical method. It is extremely effective and harmless when done with the right devices and by experts.
Are There Any Side Effects?
The laser epilation device focuses entirely on the hair root. By applying laser beams to the hair root, the function of the stem cell that provides the development of the hair is disrupted, thus preventing the hair from reappearing on the skin surface. Reddening of the area where laser epilation is applied is a normal process, blisters on the skin that we call follicular edema are actually indicators of how effective laser epilation is.
